Head Coach

Tracy enters his thirteenth year as the Hawks head coach.   He has a record of 274 wins and 88 losses thirteen years at the helm of the Hawks.   This record includes 5 region championships, 2 state runner-up finishes, 5 semi-final appearances, and 8 state playoff appearances.   His ’02 team posted the best record in school history with 31 wins and 6 losses and was ranked as high as 13 th nationally by Student Sports Magazine.   His ’97 team was ranked as high 6 th nationally by USA Today.   He was named the 1997, 2001, 2002, and 2005 GACA Region Coach of the Year, 1997 AAA Coach of the Year by the Georgia Dugout Club and was named the 1996 and 1997 Bi-City Coach of the Year by the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer.   In 1999, Tracy was selected to be the Head Coach for the Southwest Georgia GACA All-State team.   He also serves as the Athletic Director.

After the 2006 season, Powell saw 5 seniors sign college scholarships. Trent Bowens signed with Southern Union, Kyle Maley and David Floyd signed with CVCC, Taylor Pritchett signed Wallace-Dothan, and Josh Whitehead signed with Darton College .   That brings the total to 45 former Hawks that have gone on to play college or professional ball in the twelve years Powell has been at Hardaway.

Powell lettered three years as an infielder at Georgia Southwestern.   He was named to the NAIA All-District team for two of those seasons.   Prior to coming to Hardaway, Powell was an assistant at Harris County High School and Head Coach at Stewart-Quitman High School .

Tracy is married to the former Susan Ragsdale of Columbus .  
They have two children, Kylie (14) and Carson (10).
