Brianne Marcades

The Hardaway High School Choral Department consists of the:
Girls Chorus, the Madrigals and the Girls Ensemble.
Our conductor and music instructor is Ms. Brianne Marcades.

Girls Chorus
This course is designed to meet the needs of the beginning and intermediate level choral students. Students get a great deal of drill in choral technique, such as breath control, diction, sight-reading skills, and performance skills. This is also a performance group and performs at school assemblies and at the music festival each winter. Attendance at after-school rehearsal and concerts/performances is mandatory. Prerequisite is an audition or recommendation by former choral director. Girls wear formal black dresses that are paid for by parents. Fund-raising projects offer an opportunity for earning the funds for these dresses and accessories.
Grades 9-12

Advanced Mixed Chorus

This course is designed for the more advanced choral student. Many of its members are AII-State performers. In addition to instruction in basic choral technique skills, advanced sight-reading is emphasized. Students should be able to sight-read and to sing parts independently. This is a performance group and is open to students either by audition or recommendation of a former choral director and/or having been in AlI-State. Attendance at after-school rehearsal and concerts/performances is mandatory .Boys wear black tuxedo jackets, black tux pants and white tux shirt. Girls wear formal black dresses with pearl accessories and black dress shoes. Parents are responsible for this cost, but fund- raising projects offer an opportunity for earning this money.
Grades 9-12

Advanced Girls Ensemble

This is a course designed for the very advanced female choral student. Most of its members have experience in AlI-State or have been in other advanced choral groups,
either on the middle school or high school level. In addition to instruction on basic
choral technique skills, advanced sight-reading is emphasized. Students should be strong sight-readers and be able to not only sing their own vocal part independently, but also be able to sing other vocal parts as well. This is a performance group that is open to advanced female choral students through audition with the choral director. The girls wear long, black, formal dresses with pearl accessories and black dress shoes. Parents are responsible for this cost, but fund-raising projects offer an opportunity for earning this money.
