The Hardaway High School English Department is dedicated to teaching students in the areas of reading, writing, listening and speaking. We want to help students learn to love reading and feel empowered through the ability to write and speak their opinions with clarity and creativity.
We offer a diverse curriculum that includes literary works by authors from multiple cultural and ethnic backgrounds. Our classroom instruction is based on helping students to meet both the district and state standards for Language Arts. We work to make reading and writing enjoyable for all students through creative assignments such as: acting out scenes from plays or novels, creating PowerPoint presentations, writing and performing creative poetry, organizing class debates, creating illustrations for stories. In addition, we offer solid instruction in grammar, vocabulary development, and analytical essay skills.
