Frau Zaiga Mion

Mrs. Mion has been teaching German I – V at Hardaway since 1986. Her native language is Latvian, though she was born in Czechoslovakia. She received her BA in German and French from Western Michigan University and studied at the Pädagogische Hochschule and Freie Universität in Berlin for one year. She then received her MA in German from Michigan State University. She is active in the local foreign language academic alliance and has attended numerous workshops and programs in Georgia, Tennessee, Freiburg (Germany) and Trois Rivières (Quebec). She is a member of AATG (American Association of Teachers of German), FLAG (Foreign Language Association of Georgia), Academic Alliance, and DKG (Delta Kappa Gamma). Mrs. Mion was named Star Teacher in 1993, received the Sara Spano Page I Top Teacher award in 1998, and was in the Top Ten for Muscogee County’s Teacher of the Year in 1999.
Mrs. Mion believes that our students should become more globally aware and culturally sensitive. One path toward this awareness is the study of a foreign language. Since language is communication, she wishes for her students to achieve competency through daily practice in the classroom.

Keine Angst! Deutsch macht Spass!
