Education for life

We at Hardaway are very excited about the opportunity that an International Baccalaureate programme will afford the students of the Muscogee County School District. This program, founded in Geneva, Switzerland, in the 1960s, was initiated in an effort to establish a common curriculum and university entry credentials for international students.
The IB program is a challenging college preparatory program that offers junior and senior level students college-level courses with an international perspective and flavor. The IB courses are designed to focus on internationalism, critical thinking, skillful writing and analysis rather than just memorization of facts and formulas. An additional requirement of the IB program is 150 hours of Community Action and Service. Also, IB students must write a 4000-word (maximum) original research essay. These requirements enable students to grow academically and also develop skills and interests outside the classroom.
With its balanced curriculum and rigorous international standards of assessment, the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme has achieved worldwide recognition and respect.
Currently in America, 573 schools are IB approved diploma program, and only 14 of those are in the state of Georgia; we are proud to be able to add Hardaway's name to this prestigious list.

IBO MISSION STATEMENT
The International Baccalaureate Organization aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. To this end the IBO works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment. These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.
