to IB Programme
To earn an official IB diploma that is recognized
world-wide, students must follow a two-year IB Diploma Programme during
their junior and senior years that includes prescribed coursework, "internal"
and cumulating assessments, and designated special projects:
Coursework
IB requires coursework in six areas:
Language, literature and writing in the student's home
language;
Second Language;
Individuals and Societies, including courses such as
history, economics, and geography
Experimental Sciences, including biology, chemistry,
environmental systems, and design technology
Mathematics
Arts and Electives, including music, theater arts, and
computer science
The International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma
Programme is a rigorous pre-university course of studies that meets
the needs of highly motivated secondary school students. It currently
exists in 114 countries around the globe, and just over 1,400 schools
worldwide. It may be offered only at IB-approved schools.
The International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO)
is a chartered foundation under the Swiss civil code with headquarters
in Geneva. Founded in the 1960's, the IBO grewout of international school
efforts to establish a common curriculum and university entry credential
for geographically mobile students. The IB curriculum emphasizes critical
thinking, an exposure to a variety of viewpoints, and inter-cultural
understanding among young people.

Creativity, Action and Service (CAS)
An Essential Component to The International
Baccalaureate Programme
Second only to the priority of the cognitive
development of students, the social development of Hardaway's student
body is paramount. Each student is given the opportunity to participate
in a vast array of extra-curricular organizations and activities which
are designed with an emphasis on team building, shared responsibility
, community enhancement, and character development.
The International Baccalaureate Diploma requires
each student to fulfill a Creativity, Action, and Service (CAS) component.
The CAS requirement is critical to the IB philosophy of a well-rounded
student, requiring the student to complete hours of involvement in
Creative activities (such as cultural events, music, dance, or organizations
designed to support the arts), an Action project (such as team sports,
band, gymnastics, or participating in other physical activities), and
Service to the Community.
The International Baccalaureate Student
A student should consider the Pre-IB program if the student is...
~ self-motivated
~ able to manage time effectively

~ inspired to push his/her limits
~ concerned about making a difference in the world.
